Soldering/brazing & Elect. Controls for Refrigeration
Spring Semester only Jan. 11, 2011
Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-9:30 p.m. 25 meetings 75 hours.

Includes the concepts of tubing and pipe, their application, construction and jointing with various soldering/brazing and welding techniques. The study of basic basic electricity with applications of wiring, adjusting, drawing and checking of wiring diagrams using relays, protective devices, capacitors and electric motors. This class is a prerequisite for Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Unit I.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Unit I
Fall Semester Sept. 7, 2010
Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-9:30 p.m. 25 meetings 75 hours.

Consists of both theory and practical application in laboratory where students work with actual units. The basic principles of refrigeration and the electronic theory are taught in parallel with shop application. Students operate, adjust and service various types of domestic and small commercial units. Prerequisite: Soldering/Brazing & Electrical Controls for Refrigeration (or adequate background.)

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Unit II
Fall Semester Sept. 8, 2010
Spring Semester Jan. 10, 2011
Monday & Wednesday 6:30-9:30 p.m. 25 meetings 75 hours.

Instruction will be directed toward installation, servicing and troubleshooting techniques of residential comfort systems. Prerequisite: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Unit I.

Advanced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Troubleshooting:

Low/High Pressure Boiler
Fall Sem. Sept. 7, 2010
Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-9:30 p.m. 25 meetings 75 hours.
Covers material needed for license examination.
Who should attend?
  • New Boiler Room personnel
  • Experienced boiler operators who need to fine tune definitions and operating procedures for licensing exams.
Materials Covered:
  • Low pressure boiler operations, testing and reporting
  • High pressure boiler operations, safety procedures, daily operations and troubleshooting
