Refrigeration Heating & Air Conditioning
Refrigeration, Heating, and Air Conditioning is designed to develop a thorough understanding, ability, and skill for maintaining, repairing, servicing, installing, and marketing automatic refrigeration and air conditioning systems for environmental control.

As students progress through the program, they will spend an increasing amount of time in the shop where they are responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing equipment. This "hands-on" experience will prepare students for the work environment in the air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration industry.

  • Oxy-Fuel Cutting, Welding, Brazing, Soldering
  • Pipe and Tubing
  • Pressurizing and Leak Testing
  • Charging systems
  • Electricity
  • Principles of Refrigeration
  • Heating
    Other instructional areas include:
    Identification of Consumables
    Math for HVAC
    Directed Study (individual projects)
    Quality control
    Shop Projects
    Certification
    Industry Expectations
    Resume and Job Applications

The course is nine months in length, approximately 1080 clock hours, including holidays and vacation time. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. at the Hillyard Technical Center.
